As I’ve mentioned in a few previous posts, I’ve been working on a coaching certification. I’m coming down to the last few weeks of my training and I’m now into the practice coaching sessions. I’ve done a mini-session so far – it was only 10 minutes long and it was coaching one of my fellow trainees – but it was still a lot of fun. Next, we do two half-hour sessions with volunteers taken from the Artella membership.
One of our recent ARTsignments was to create a M.A.P. (which stands for My ARTbundance Process) which would help us to visualize a coaching session. The steps that a coaching session should follow that Marney (our teacher) suggests are to ask questions, listen to what the client shares, select a Principle that reflects what is most needed, and then select an action that the client can take. My visualization took the form of a literal map:

It was a lot of fun creating it and I’ll hang it on the wall in my office so that I can use it to remind me of the process while I’m working with my future clients.
